I learned about this today while googling information my mother used to scare me as a child. BTW – my mother really is awesome. She used to tell me that you could develop Bell's Palsy by sleeping with a fan on your head.
While googling that I found this: Fan Death
A U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association advises that "although the use of fans may increase comfort at temperatures less than 90°F (less than 32.2°C), fans are not protective against heatstroke when temperatures reach greater than or equal to 90°F (greater than or equal to 32.2°C) and humidity exceeds 35%,"[15] and provides a similar but simpler warning to the public on their website.[16] These temperature and humidity conditions are consistent with a death cited in an earlier article critical of fan death, which suggested that fan use was irrelevant.[6]
Be careful out there.
Labels: hypochondria, stuff I get elsewhere, weird finds
If you didn't know that I was a bit of a hypochondriac or maybe with this I would be paranoid - either way, now you do.
I have sufficiently freaked myself the hell out this morning: 4.1 Million American's Drinking Water Contaminated. The comments are making me feel mildly better....
Another thing: funniest comment so far though is from youbastid
Now I can get my drugs in more places, like Losangebostonyorkicago.
I don't like being in the same room with them - especially marionettes. I'm just waiting for their little heads to turn and cackle at me... like Robert.
But for some reason I like Tim Burton, so I can't decide if this commercial is cool or creepy as hell. The mouth thing at the end is kind of gross, but I think I'm the only one that thinks about that kind randomness. Like when my sister and I were watching The Mummy Returns and the guy blows the powder from the canopic jars... I looked at my sister and said - "If this were real, he just blew 3,000 year-old mummy on them, can you imagine the germs?"
In other randomness Richard's reading a book that has something to deal with rabies (and how it can be transferred by too many things for me to be comfortable with), he had fun playing on my mild hypochondria, so if you'll excuse me I have to go look up the symptoms of rabies.
