One of my favorite bands just "fired" their drummer.
This is an odd development. Although, their announcement to their fans was very nicely written... even if the PR people did tend toward the melodramatic. Era? Spiritual member? The cause? Really?
See what y'all think.
It is with a sad and heavy heart that we are announcing the band's extremely difficult decision to part ways with our longtime percussionist, and founding member of Carbon Leaf, Scott Milstead.
It has been a long, rewarding road full of memorable shows and great times making music together, but the time has come for some changes that we're confident will lead to greater happiness and fulfillment for all 5 of us going forward.
Scott is our brother and we love him dearly. He is forever a spiritual member of Carbon Leaf who has devoted his life and passion for music to the cause, and we are thankful for an unforgettable era.
We know this is a shock to the people that make Carbon Leaf possible - the fans - and we ask for your continued support and enthusiasm for the band as we look forward to envisioning Carbon Leaf for the road ahead.

Scott and his girlfriend/wife had a long talk/fight about his continued absence from his home. What's more, on our last mini-tour, Scott's girlfriend/wife could not get in touch with him at 3AM, when she was doing her nightly "call to make sure you're not banging some groupie" thing. Scott maintains that, "I did not have sex with that woman...that groupie."
Scott finally realized he was about to let go of the best thing that ever happened to him and decided to ditch Carbon Leaf instead of his girlfriend/wife.
We will miss Scott, but drummers are a dime a dozen and frankly, we were tired of all the drama.
I was just about to ask if you knew what that really meant, but it seems like Mr. Jetpacks here has probably hit the nail on the head.
I hope April had nothing to with this change. He was married to the band long before he started sleeping with her. Plus, the bands most pussy-whipped member, Carter, has been able to balance the band and a nagging wife at the same time.
I was just being a smart-ass. I don't know anyone in the band.
Ha Ha ... Funny that i found this page..This is APRIL scott's girlfriend.. You guys are really funny. I enjoyed the stories of what could have been the situation......I have to clear my name up. I had nothing to do with scott and carbon leaf departure. I do not cock block Scott when it comes to his dreams and playing music....I love him for who he is and would never ask him to change for me. If i did he would not be my best friend, cause he then would be some really weird pussy whipped guy.....AND that is not Scott Milstead.. Take Care .. APRIL

Well, that's depressing.
I keep hoping Carbon Leaf will come back to Milwaukee's Irish Fest one of these years. I'm a coordinator at the stage they played at the last time they were in town for it, and they're really great guys.
