Now, a historian claims, Mengele's notorious experiments may have borne fruit.
For years scientists have failed to discover why as many as one in five pregnancies in a small Brazilian town have resulted in twins – most of them blond haired and blue eyed.
But residents of Candido Godoi now claim that Mengele made repeated visits there in the early 1960s, posing at first as a vet but then offering medical treatment to the women of the town.

My (identical twin) sister and I don't really dress alike. We never buy the same shirts in the same color. It keeps us from looking like identical twin freaks.
But a week ago I liked a shirt she bought so much that I bought it too... in the same color.
And it bit my ass today.
In my defense, she left this morning before I saw her. This is not allowed because when we don't check we will unconsciously pick out the same color combinations. But before, at least they weren't the same clothes.
Not today, I see her come walking up the street to meet me for lunch and we both stopped in disbelief. Thank G-d I can wear jeans to work so we weren't in the same damn pants too.
Of course, it's not some neutral color. It's bright magenta. It calls attention to the wearer with out needing duplication.
And really, do people NOT think that we can see them staring? One girl had the nerve to actually ask us if it was on purpose and then shouted "really?!" when we told her it wasn't. And then my sister's tries to explain that we're twins and it should be OK.
We totally walked two feet apart back to our respective offices.
How is this new? I think I was told years and years ago that most identical twins weren't exact "clones" because of genetic mutations. Or am I reading the article wrong?
I mean, I can roll my tongue, my sister can't. There are others. Those simple little recessive vs. dominant gene tests you do in 9th grade biology.
My sister and I were part of a twin study when we were little. We were always within 1/2 inch and a 1/2 pound of each other growing up and we're mirror images (I'm left-handed, she's right). I got birthday cards from them up until I moved out during college. So maybe I'm just smarter.
I was watching a special on TLC last night about a form of Siamese Twins. It was called "Born With Two Heads." There was a fully formed child with a second head that was actually a parasitic twin - parasitic because it actually didn't have any organs itself and was feeding/using blood from the fully formed child.
Being an identical twin myself, those shows make me EXTREMELY grateful for everything. It definitely puts my job problems, car troubles and other frustrations into perspective. Mainly because I could have been like that. I just can't imagine being attached to my sister... sharing a kidney or a brain.
That's mainly it, I'm really glad I'm not a Siamese Twin.
